Digitec Galaxus: personalisation can be switched off with one click
By Advisorn · guidance, not advice
In brief
Following a recommendation of the FDPIC, Digitec Galaxus lets customers switch off, with a single setting, the personalisation tied to the customer account and the cookies that serve it. The registration form and the privacy notice now mention it.
What happened
In April 2024 the FDPIC had concluded an investigation: tying purchases to opening a customer account, and the processing that followed from it, was not proportionate. Digitec Galaxus had accepted the recommendations.
On 27 November 2025 the company reported that it had implemented them: a single setting in the account, a note in the registration form and an updated privacy notice. The FDPIC made this public on 12 February 2026.
What it means for an SME
Do not collect more data than the purchase needs, and do not tie the order to processing that is not needed to fulfil it.
Make objecting to personalisation and marketing visible and simple, from registration onwards and in the privacy notice.
